The Year in Review

If asked to choose one word to describe 2010 that word would be...roller coaster!

Who knew that one year could have so many ups, downs and uncertainties yet end up on such a spectacular note!

Let's take a little stroll down memory lane for the year 2010!

In January Seth learned how to ski, turned 4 and had his first friends birthday party at Kidnastics.

In February we got new carpet and finally got rid of the dog pee and throw up infested old carpet. February vacation rocked because we had many play dates, dinner dates and overall family fun! Seth was in 1B swim class and at the end of the month we went to the Pepsi Year in Review Event. We also tried to spend as much time as possible with Mr. Lee because he was about to deploy for a year.

March rolled around and I happily planned Leah's Pink and Brown 1st Birthday Party! We were so thrilled that our family and friends all came in their best pink and brown clothes. One week after Leah's birthday we welcomed Noelle Voss into the world and she is such a wonderful little girl with a smile that is contagious! We also said farewell to Lee and said many prayers for his safety.

As the snow slowly melted April approached and what a busy month that was. It was filled with activities such as Maple Days, The SNIRT Run, taking Seth to see Mama Mia and celebrating my Mom's birthday.

In May we started itching to get the boat in the water. We had our annual garage sale, went to the Syracuse Zoo, took a trip to the outlets and had a surprise 60th birthday party for my mother-in-law Bonnie! We unfortunately weren't able to get the boat in the water like we had planned because a small part needed to be fixed, but watch out June because we were on that boat as much as we could find the time.

June was a crazy, hectic and fun month at school because there were many field trips to go on, Olympic days and end of the year celebrations. We took Seth to see Choo Choo Soul and he fell in love, Mom and Tom celebrated their 20th Anniversary, we went to the Mt. Carmel Feast and summer vacation began!

July and August are a blur because we had so much fun and went on so many adventures. The summer was full of shrimp boils, trips to the boat, swimming, Adventure Camp, biking in Sackets, trips to Albany, Methuen, Boston and Lake George, parades, the Lewis County Fair, rafting, Sesame Place, a visit to Aunt Sheryl's new home in Rochester, Wine Day, our 8th Anniversary, Alex and Laura's wedding reception, Enchanted Forest, Jungle Camp, Bunko and soooooo much more!

September was back to reality and the start of Preschool for Seth with his new teacher Mrs. Puccia AKA Grandma. During this month we also went to an SU football game and sat in the Pepsi box, Seth moved to Level 2 in swim and we went apple picking.

In October we were in full fall mode. My cousin Tara got married, Annabelle threw an amazing 5th birthday party with horse drawn wagon rides, we went to Old McDonald's Farm and Boo @ the Zoo. This is also the month where our roller coaster started to derail. Within two short weeks Roland had surgery and was told that he had cancer. We were all on edge as we waited waited waited for blood work, test results and biopsies. It was a very tough month, but we pulled through even stronger than ever.

In November we made many trips to SYR to meet with his oncologist. We would get good news and then bad news, but ultimately we found out that by having the surgery and catching it so early that we reduced his chances of ever having chemo. We had such a surge of family and friend support that we couldn't believe our eyes and ears. By the middle of the month we got the news that he was home free for 6 weeks so we tried to enjoy what was left of the month by hosting Thanksgiving at our house as always and taping the kids holiday commercial for WWNY.

December was a super busy month filled with holiday shopping, decorating, Seth's holiday celebration, Gram's Chorus Concert, family movie night, cookie day, pizza night with The Widrick's, Tom & Jerry's, trips to Lowville and all that Christmas had to offer. We also went back to SYR for Roland's 6 week follow up CT Scan. We were nervous, but were ultimately given the best news ever. He is totally clear and will only need to return every 3 months for a while. We also had the best vacation ever!

To end the year we threw a "We Kicked Cancers Ass 80s Bash" It was extremely fun and we will have the memories to last a lifetime.

I am truly grateful to have such a wonderful husband, son and daughter as well as supportive parents, siblings, grandparents, in-laws and friends. I am one seriously lucky girl!

I'm pretty impressed with your memory as well, although I have to believe that you went back and reviewed all your blog posts... which means that I'm also impressed that you blogged about everything you did. Nice job. I'm so glad that we were able to share such a wonderful year with you and I'm even more glad that it ended on such a wonderful note. Cheers to another fantastic year!

Wow, what a year you had. So glad for you that the end of the year ended so happily. And, I understand your "We kicked Cancer" party was a roaring success. I hope that your next year is all highs and no more lows.
