The Elf on the Shelf

Kristen's sister Becky AKA Aunt Becky sent our family a very special surprise. She sent us the book The Elf on the Shelf along with the elf. Our goal was to name him and then follow the rules of the book. Seth promptly named him Cody. Cody flies to visit Santa every night to tell him how Seth and Leah have been acting during that day. He then flies back to our house and lands in a different location every morning. Every morning Seth and Leah have to find Cody and if they have been good kids he will leave them a little treat in our advent calendar. Our mornings are very fun filled now and they even start at 6am (YUCK, HA!) Thank you Aunt Becky it is truly a wonderful gift and now a wonderful tradition for our family.
Seth was telling Cody all of the toys that he would really like for Christmas from Santa.
Seth was only allowed to touch Cody on the first night and now that he has flown to see Santa the kids aren't allowed to touch him or his magic will disappear!
Ah, to be a kid again!
PS~ Videos to come...

I am SO in love with this concept! We got ours out last weekend, and it's SO hilarious to watch the girls hunt for him every morning. The other day, Noelle almost touched him and they totally flipped out because his magic would have been washed away. If I showed them these pictures of Seth touching him, they would probably have a heart attack!

It is sooo much fun! Jake gets soo excited every morning and the funny thing is..even after 25 days of finding him, he still loves it! We said a little prayer to the Elf on the first night and reminded him to stay "high" where Linds couldn't bother him!

So happy you guys are having fun with him! And thank you so much for the videos, Jen, they're priceless. In fact, they're just what I needed on this cold, dreary Monday morning at the office...ah, to be young again, indeed.
Here's to keeping the spirit of Cody & Christmas alive all throughout the year! xoxo

Such a good idea! We don't do it, but I know I would probably forget where the elf was, hahahhaa
