We headed out on Good Friday and hit a ton of traffic right from the very start, but we didn't let it get us down at all. It took us 2.5 hours extra that day to reach our destination in Virginia and when we arrived we were MORE than happy too get out of the truck for the night.
After our lunch break we switched up the vehicles. Roland and I got the best end of the deal. The boys were so quiet and our ride was extremely peaceful.
The kids were thrilled to get swimming that evening at Virginia.
A few more hours in the truck on Saturday and a pit stop right before we arrived at the beach made for the perfect day.
We decided to stop at South of the Border and it was perfect to let the kids get out and walk around a bit, plus we had ice cream for lunch which made them all sorts of happy.

When we arrived in Surfside Beach on Saturday we got groceries and headed right to our house. The kids instantly got in the pool and were oh so happy.
Our rental
After dinner we headed to the beach in our golf cart. Renting the golf cart was the best idea of the vacation. We all had so much fun using it.
Saturday night at the beach
Sunday was Easter. We hid the kids baskets just like at home and also had an egg hunt. The kids loved it.
Then we loaded up and headed to the beach.
We learned all about a new sea creature, the Jelly Ball. It is very common this time of the year in the south, it does not bite or string and we gathered up our courage to touch it.
On Sunday afternoon the boys walked down the beach about ten blocks and found their buddy Devin. He came back with them and spend a few hours with us at the beach and the pool.
Sunday night the parents headed out in the golf cart to explore the area. It was so great.
The Garden City Pier
We could tell in only one day that our vacation was going to totally rock.
