Spring Break 2018

Traveling to SC this year was so much smoother than last year. We lucked out and didn't hit any traffic at all. We drove to VA Friday night and the remainder of the way on Saturday. It was smooth sailing.
We were able to rent the house that we wanted for last year, but was unavailable, this year and we were so happy with it. It had a larger pool, newer golf cart and the layout of the house was excellent. Plus it was one block closer to the beach. Score.

On Sunday the boys walked to The Connell's house (only four blocks away) and grabbed the boys for boogie boarding.
On Monday it rained so we did a little shopping, went to the Hollywood Wax Museum and The Vintage Car Museum.

We also hit up a candy shop for some sugary fun.
Monday night we tried a restaurant that came highly recommended and it was so delish. Best shrimp I've ever had.

Seth loves that we make him wear silly hats whenever possible.

This year instead of a quick stop at Krispy Kreme, we decided that each family would grab a dozen donuts for breakfast...yummo.
Tuesday night we found a local karaoke bar and met up with some friends for a super fun night. My throat hurt from laughing so much that night.

The Beaver Bar was a HIT.

We took the golf cart down to the Garden City Pier on Wednesday morning. There weren't many jelly balls this year, but we did see a sting ray someone caught.

On Wednesday we had a beach day with friends from home. We met up with The Connell's and The Guldenfenning's.

Buying Seth a larger boogie board was the best idea ever. He used that soooooo much and it didn't break like the smaller ones do. Leah broke hers this year. I think a larger one is in her future for next years adventure.
We hit up a beach bar one afternoon and Erica got a Bloody Mary as big as her head. Yes, she finished it. Ha.

I splurged the evening we went for ice cream and got a Snickers Sundae in a homemade waffle bowl. Yummo.
We got up super early on Thursday morning to watch the sun rise. It was absolutely gorgeous.
On Thursday the moms and kids went to Mt. Atlanticus mini golfing and the dads went to play Par 3 golf.

We also checked out the Murrells Inlet Marsh Walk.

Twinning

On our last night we tried a restaurant called Dead Dog Saloon in Murrells Inlet. Best Surf and Turf Tacos I've ever had.

Spectacular Vacation and much needed.
We rocked our week away and this just about sums it up.

Tough Life Lessons

They say that god only gives you what you can handle and lately he has been testing our patience quite a bit. Almost two weeks ago we had a wind storm that blew off our roof in 9 spots...9 spots. This should not happen to a 3 year old house, but we have come to find out that our builder did not put on the correct shingles for a house on top of the largest hill in all of Watertown. You trust people and think they have your best interest at heart, but come to find out they don't and then you are in for a huge mess. It's been a stressful couple of weeks AND THEN...we got another wind storm even worse yesterday and we added two more spots to the missing roof. We are learning huge life lessons during all of this. We need to ask more questions and to be much more aware of every single decision that we make in life. The good news is that we found a very highly recommended roofer who has been amazing. His company tarped the 9 areas last week and came back today to tarp the newest additions to the shingle graveyard. We can go away now and not stress about the roof leaking into our house. We are currently working with our home owners insurance and hope to move forward with a new roof on the back and sides in the month of May. A roof that can withstand high winds and lower my stress level into the future.

Yesterday when this was happening and we were all home I was almost in tears. Watching the shingles fly off and hearing the flapping on the roof just about sent me over the edge.

This too shall pass...
Positivity in our future.
