Retirement Luncheon

It is officially official, my mom is retired and we went to the luncheon to prove it.
My mom and her assistant have worked together for 15 years and have known each other for 20 years. My mom taught Miss Mary's daughter her first year teaching kindergarten at St. Anthony's and they have been friends ever since.

It was a wonderful lunch and many people had great memories to share, so needless to say there were yet more tears shed. My mom was also given a pig charm for her Pandora. Pigs are my mom's favorite animal and for anyone not from the area, she would also greet her students on the first day of school wearing her pig slippers. You knew she was your teacher and she was easy to spot wearing those bright pink slippers. I am very grateful that I was able to attend this special lunch.

Juicy Goodness

We went strawberry picking tonight and we took Leah for the very first time. She was so mellow and basically ate her way through the strawberry patch and I have the pictures to prove it. It is a great family tradition that keeps getting better every year.
Leah was a little scared of the tractor ride at first, but once she saw her beloved strawberries she was all good.
Smiley boy

All I heard through the whole berry patch was "Num Num Momma". It was so cute.

Thank goodness I had my thinking cap on and brought Leah her own bowl. She put it to good use.

Seth only picked about ten berries. He got bored with it and started picking leaves instead. He is such a boy.

CHECK THIS OUT. I KNOW YOU ARE LAUGHING. I might have to frame this.

Such a great way to spend a warm summer afternoon. I promptly came home and made a batch of strawberry crisp...num num as Leah would say.

Happy Father's Day

One Father's Day tradition that we have had for the past three years is to have Seth take Poppy and Daddy golfing. It is something that I think all three of them really look forward to and as the years go by it is interesting to see how much Seth improves on his golfing skills. It is a sport that he seems to pick up naturally just like his dad did.
Thank goodness it was a beautiful day on Sunday for the guys.

Look how tall our five and a half year old is.

Good form Seth.

Happy Father's Day to my wonderful husband, my great Dad and Step Dad, to my father-in-law and to my Gramp. We are all very lucky to have you in our lives.

Castana's BBQ

Saturday night was the first BBQ of the season. Since Lee was gone for the last year they decided that it was their turn to host and I can safely say that we all had a blast. The food, friends and chit chat was wonderful. If Kristen's parents and Lisa's parents hadn't been there I would have to say that the kids would have out numbered the adults.
We brought our new water slide and all of the kids loved it. Plus it kept them happy and busy until their lips turned purple. It was a hit.

The big kids loved the water slide, but it was also interesting to see the little one's try it out too.

Molly and Marra looked so stinking cute in their matching dresses.

The little ones gave up on the big water slide and opted for the kiddie pool instead.

Leah finally got her hands on Jacob's power wheel and drove it around until we had to take the battery out. She was in love with it. I have to give Lee and extra thank you for chasing her around in it for about an hour.

Zoom Zoom

Thank you Kristen and Lee for hosting a kick butt BBQ. We had a fantastic time.

Kitchen Progress

It has been two weekends of kitchen craziness, but we can not complain at all. Bruce and Ron are the perfect workers and our kitchen is turning out perfect. It is about 95% complete and they will come back on Friday to do all of the little final touches.
Above the stove used to be wide open so we had them build doors for more storage. What a huge difference.

So long old kitchen...
Hello, new and improved kitchen.

I will post completed pictures next weekend.

Double Date Night

Friday night we went on a double date with Kristen and Lee to Joey's TI Club on Wellsley Island. The weather was perfect, the meal was amazing and we all had tons and tons of laughs. It was just what the doctor ordered for the end of the week.

We told our waiter that he was in for a fun night after Kristen and I drank a bottle of wine on the way to dinner and then ordered another bottle during dinner. Did I mention that I am not 21 any more and that I definitely was a bit out of sorts on Saturday?
I highly recommend Joey's. The food is out of this world. We all got appetizers, salad, two baskets of bread and our meals. Needless to say we did not have room for dessert even though it looked very tempting.
Roland ordered the seafood platter and I am not exaggerating when I say that the platter was larger than his head. This picture does it no justice.

After dinner we took a stroll down by the boats, drove Lee and Kristen through TI Park and came home to meet Justin and Joan at The Paddock Club. It was such a fun night!

Random Updates

It has been a very fun and busy week. We have been trying to spend as much time as possible with Justin because he will be heading back to Florida at the end of next week, but don't worry my mom and I are flying down to see him at the end of September for a kick butt weekend together. Our home project for the year is underway and about a third of our new kitchen cupboards are installed. The men are coming back tonight and tomorrow to work on more of it. It looks amazing and we could not be happier.

Here is a sneak peak of the stain we chose. So long ugly painted cupboards. I hope to have more pictures for you by the end of tomorrow.
As you can see, Leah's hair seems to grow on a daily basis now and it's almost necessary to keep some sort of hair tie or clip in it now. It is so very exciting since we waited so long for it to grow.
Leah continues her speech sessions and she also continues to be the MOST stubborn little person we have ever met. We try and work with her daily and most often if she is not bribed her response to every word I try and get her to say is...NO. Let's hope that when she is 16 and asked all of the questions that teenagers deal with that she also sticks with that word NO.

Roland is currently on a golf extravaganza for the next 4 days. He is lucky enough to be invited to many golf tournaments through Pepsi and he is currently at Turning Stone in a tourney today followed by golf with Lee, Drew and Tom tomorrow followed by golf with Seth and Tom on Sunday followed by another tourney on Monday in Utica. My goodness I'm exhausted just typing that let alone how he will feel on Monday night.

Our weekend ahead will be full of a double date night tonight at Joey's TI Club on Wellsley Island, the Castana's BBQ tomorrow night and Father's Day on Sunday. So much to look forward to.

Pre-K Celebration

The day that we had been looking forward to AND dreading finally came and went and let's just say that it was truly memorable. We appreciate so very much all of the people who took time out of their busy schedules to be a part of Seth's 1st major milestone. He can tell he is loved by the cheering section that attended. Thank you all!

As always we took our traditional pictures on the front steps before the graduation.
My how he has grown in only ten months of school.
He said to me, "Mommy, I am very excited for the end of the year celebration, but I am also very sad." I told Miss Mary to whip that new teacher into shape because Miss Leah will be there in only one year.
It was surreal to watch Seth up on that stage. The very same stage that I performed on for 9 years at Holy Family growing up.
Backstage
The kids performed wonderfully and I will upload videos later, but they were not the one one's who were celebrated. Three different people gave little speeches about my mom regarding her retirement. Miss Mary spoke, Kristen spoke and Mrs. Graham the principal spoke. It was emotional, but such a testament to a wonderful teacher.
Proud parents of a Pre-K graduate
Here comes the cheering section...Nana & Grandpa
Ooops Buddy pic must have snuck in there.

Uncle Justin & Poppy

Great Grandpa & Great Grandma

Grandma Charlton came also, but snuck out before we could snap a picture.
It's official kindergarten here we come...sniff sniff

We are so very proud of you Seth and we love you to pieces.
